a while back while working on a project for illustration application (a module I have to do, where we have to complete two book covers) I was working on welcome to the monkey house by Kurt Vonnegut. I found this amazing image on pinterest.
This image helped me move forward with my work and showed me how great services like pinterest are for creatives. After a good group crit, I knew the direction I wanted to take.
I got out the ink and and roller and just started rolling!
So by trying to recreate the beautiful worn textures of the Japanese graphic design magazine/book cover, I managed to get this texture which I was then able to use in my design.
This was the first design that happened with the textures, with my thumbnails I knew I wanted a city scape to suggest control and imprisonment. While I liked this I needed to research buildings and start to use the value of the colour better to create perspective.
I am currently at the stage where I am experimenting with typography and trying to implement it. (should of probably thought about this before)
