Before this whole project was started I had to produce a set of storyboards to show the author, Nicola Davies. These initial ideas were a good way to gauge what would have to be done in order to turn the poem into a theatre production and although many of the ideas have changed they were a great starting point.
Something that immediately stood out to Nicola Davies was the shadow in the first scene, although it was meant to represent the father looking over the child, Nicola thought it would make a great representation of WAR and I agree.
War, in the first storyboard was represented by a volcano, this was quickly decided to not be appropriate because volcano's are natural occurrences and Nicola wanted it to be clear that war is man made.
This initial meeting was really interesting, to get the author's ideas so ear;y on in the process was very useful.
